Rajneeti

The author has just seen Rajneeti and the experience has been so merimerising that he cannot control his temptation to write a blog for the film.

Based on the backdrop of Indian politics the film is a story of a political family. It is about a state assembly election where two aspiring and highly ambitious candidates representing two different sides from the same family are contesting against each other, and in order to vanquish each other they are ready to put everything at stake, all kinds of maneuvers and tactics are used ranging from propagandas, flesh, black mailing to even brutal assassination. It has an ensemble cast of big actors like Ajay devgan, Ranbir Kapoor,Manoj bajpai,Nana patekar,Arjun rampal,Katrina kaif etc and everyone has performed extremely well.Even newcomers like Ranbir and Katrina looked very matured in their roles along with the vetrans. The blog does not intend to write a film review but will like to dissect each and every character of the film and will like to delve deeper into their personas.

1> Manoj bajpai:- he was the champion of the champions.Out of all the wonderful performances he gave the finest one.His role was of "Viren Pratap Singh" and was loosely based on Duryodhana’s role.Like Duryodhana he was extremely ambitious and could go to any extent to get power, he was relentless, impatient and was full of hatred. But in spite of these was decently sly as well as dominating too. He was quite smart in emotionally black mailing karna(Ajay devgan's character Suraj) and also in using pressure tactics when required. Dressed in typical tight paints, shirts and half coat Manoj simply rocked.

2> Arjun Rampal:- One of the most complex character of the film and it is very tough to restrict his character in a particular frame. Was again highly ambitious, egoistic as well as arrogant & short tempered .Loved indulgence and was also very brutal but loved his family a lot. Playing Prithvi pratap had been the best performance by Arjun rampal so far.

3> Ranbir Kapoor:- Initially plays a suave and smart gentlmen but once when exposed to the real world politics the political DNAS in him becomes active. He gets transformed into a revengful and ultra smart tactician who can even gamble with his love to fulfill his purpose. Though shrewd like his brothers he was not all impatient like them. Was venomous like a viper but was also extremely calm and composed in his appearance.

4> Nana Patekar:- Inspired by the character of Krishna Nana Patekar played the role of a politician called brij Gopal who though was not into active politics but was active in each and every plot making. Was extremely intelligent, practical and desicive. But like all the male characters in the film his chaarcter too was not untouched with the streak of violence and blood.Looked awesome while puffing his stamina stick and observing the whole game.

5> Ajay devgan :- His character of Suraj was loosely based on the character of Karna( but the magnificence and emotional appeal was missing.)He was also extremely ambitous. Was brutal too, never hesitated in killing any one on the behest( along with emotional black mailing) of his friend Viren Pratap. Was a impressive speaker as well as cold and calculating.Behind every move of Viren Suraj happens to be the think tank.

6> Katrina Kaif:- Nothing much for her to play( except for the power packed speech after her husband's assassination). Was just there to add a bit of glamour.

In general Rajneeti was a film that took a very hit hitting stand on Indian politics but if delved a bit further it was more about the baser passions of human being, it was built on a complex web of human ambitions, arrogance of power & attitude of revenge. Though dark and looked a bit deviated from reality but was still very impactful and entertaining due to various reasons such huge starcast, power packed performance, smooth execution, nice direction etc.But the Real strength of the film depended on the fact that it was based on one of the best written book of human history that is the "Mahabharata" . A book which no matter is told in any context and in any time will always be alluring and charming.
